After two years working as chief engineer for a telecoms business in Japan, Rob Scott returned home to Lancashire in 2006 looking for a new challenge.
He started out selling telephone systems over the internet from a back bedroom. His company Denwa – named after the Japanese word for telephone – now employs over 30 people in Barrowford.
The fast-growing business provides a full range of ICT services including IT support, cloud computing and internet connectivity to clients throughout the UK and has its own training academy, allowing local recruits to learn on the job. Denwa is planning to take on 20 more staff in the next two years.
Since its inception the company has received three rounds of Rosebud funding, the most recent in spring 2015 amounting to £367,000.
“Enterprise Ventures has supported us from the start,” says Rob. “The funding has helped enormously with our expansion plans, allowing us to grow the team and develop the business.”
