Richard led the buyout of EV from Enterprise Plc in 2002. Managing Director of EV until 2005, and Executive Chairman until the beginning of 2011, Richard oversaw the successful development of EV's venture and growth capital fund management business, before handing over the Chairmanship of the company to Stephen Ross.

A banker by profession, Richard took a career change in 1983, when he became involved in the UK venture capital market. He has an extensive network and track record in deal-doing and has been a successful fund raiser and adviser to growth companies.

As well as being a Non-Executive Director of EV, Richard is a member of the EV Investment Committees and represents EV on investee company boards.
