EV Tech

EV Tech manages more than £30 million of funds specifically aimed at seed and early stage technology companies located throughout the UK. EV Tech has a growing portfolio of more than 60 investments across a diverse range of technologies.

Typically EV Tech provides funding of £30,000 to £2 million, in tranches and against target milestones, to technology companies that have the potential to grow quickly to exploit global market opportunities, are able to illustrate substantial differential advantage and that have exceptional commercial prospects.

We understand that many of the best opportunities will not have fully developed their technology, management team, worldwide patent protection, route to market or have a clearly defined exit strategy in place – it is our job to work with the business to develop all these areas.

Ultimately we are looking to develop unique, protected technology that will have a clearly defined value to a trade purchaser and will be capable of attracting an exit value about £20 million in three years.

It’s challenging, but as the companies that work with us have found, highly rewarding.

To apply for funding, simply call one of the EV Tech investment team, who will discuss your proposal with you. If, after this initial discussion, we would like to take the opportunity forward, you will be invited to meet the EV Tech investment team at one of our assessment days; an informal meeting where ideas are explored and we try to develop the business concept, even if we are not ultimately able to invest ourselves.

Thereafter, if we decide that we wish to work with you, a member of the EV Tech investment team will work with you, assessing the opportunity and technology in greater detail, carrying out due diligence and negotiating terms for investment for investment committee approval.

Once the investment is in place, you will usually continue to work with the same EV Tech investment manager who will become part of your team. The manager will attend your board meetings and meet investors, licensees, specialists  or others as appropriate to help the business.

EV Tech’s funds include the RisingStars Growth Funds and South Yorkshire Investment Fund’s Seedcorn Fund, supporting early stage technology companies located in the South Yorkshire region.
